Guides for small businesses in Spain
Spanish invoice requirements, explained with clear examples.
Spanish invoices must include the right identity, numbering, dates, transaction details and VAT information. These guides explain the standard full invoice and common corrections, with practical examples. Always check the rules that apply to your transaction and current requirements with the Agencia Tributaria or your adviser.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a full and a simplified invoice in Spain?
A full invoice (factura completa) shows all the details of the seller, the customer and the VAT. A simplified invoice (factura simplificada) is allowed for small amounts, mainly to consumers, and shows fewer customer details. Business customers usually need a full invoice to deduct the VAT.
How do I correct a Spanish invoice?
With a corrective invoice (factura rectificativa) that refers to the original invoice, explains the correction and has its own numbering series. The original invoice is never changed or deleted.
Where do I check the current Spanish rules?
With the Agencia Tributaria or your adviser, especially for the new invoicing software requirements, whose dates have changed several times. The Spanish invoice guide gives the practical checklist.
